Summer Time in Oakland – Siren Music

Siren

This track sounds like MiMosa took Brandon Hale, aka Siren under his wing and schooled him in the way of the west coast wobble. I have a feeling we’re going to see this guy in heavy festival rotation next year. Man, after perusing videos of Siren on stage, he even looks uncannily like MiMosa.

Summer Time in Oakland by Siren Music

“Live drums, heavy synths, groove and energy are the foundation that Brandan Hale AKA Siren builds on. Hailing from Oregon and now settled in San Francisco, Siren is another new west coast find that has been making his distinctive mark on midtempo breakbeats and dubstep. With a background of metal influences and playing piano, saxaphone, drums in punk, ska and metal bands, Siren brings both melody and unforgiving edge to his productions. Already making headway with touring the ‘bass’ scenes of the US west, ‘Spawn’ is clearly the first of many releases to come. Expect bass that hits you in the gut, raw and pounding lead riffs and some epic instrumental accompaniments, truly made for ‘large’ environments or the most urban of basements.”-MUTI MUSIC

Emika Drop the Other (Scuba’s Valpine Remix)

emika_1130

Dark and dirty, just how I like it… Emika remixed by Scuba. I just stumbled across this track on one of my favorite music blogs, XLR8R. You can find the original article here. This is perfect music to hoop to, if you happen to be hooping alone on a foggy evening in an abandoned shipyard.

Here, Hotflush label boss Scuba gets his hands on the debut single from Berlin’s Emika, transforming the rumbling trip-hop of her original into an ominous and serpentine labyrinth of skittering low-end. Simply put, we likey.

Skream – La Roux – In For The Kill (Skreams Let’s Get Ravey Remix)

So I post a decent amount of music on Isopop.com but this is hands down my favorite track that I’ve posted in 6 months if not longer. Noiseporn is one the many music blogs I follow and this track was posted last Thursday: here.

Here is an interesting test of how good a track is. I found this at 8:30am on a Saturday and played it quietly at my computer, 5 ft. from our bed, while Lauren slept. Well no surprise, it woke her up. The first words out her mouth were not “Turn that off! I’m sleeping asshole!” Instead she said, “Holy Crap, that’s good!”

skream

From Noiseporn:

When dubstep began kicking off, Skream (described as “Croydon’s musical wonderkid”) was the first dubstep artist I was aware of, he simply was dubstep. So when we get this remix in from Polydor featuring one of our favourite redhaired songstresses – La Roux – combining dubstep, dnb and soaring vocals, we were pretty excited. Let us know what you think.

Optimus Gryme – Eclipse LP

optimuszgryme

Optimus Gryme might be my favorite new artist. Optimus Gryme, aka. Charlie B just released his second album “The Eclipse LP”. I don’t often stumble across music that I dig as much as this album. This will likely be the soundtrack to my life for the next few months.
