I wonder how accurately my FB stats represent a cross section of the hooping community. I’m going to ask some friends to get comparisons. Still 75% women. The male contigent continues to increase though.

Here’s a comparison of Hoop Technique and Isopop FB like stats. Isopop has higher male percentage thean Hoop Technique which makes sense (I guess?).
I hopped on Yak Films YouTube channel and saw this vid. My first thought was wow! Then I was wondering if I could find a video of Android Jones to compare it with. Android is an amazing visionary artist who has been around the Flowspace a few times. I searched for some Android Jones videos, then found the yak film video is actually a collaboration between yak and Android. Rad.

Bags just sent me this video. It’s very well done and interesting and spacial… good stuff. In Hoop Technique we’d refer to these as 3d moves. Any time you break the plane of the hoop, you start to capture volumes. In these moves Bags captures space rather than just drawing on a 2d plane. A lot of 3d development is going on right now and this video is one of the most concise and innovative I’ve seen.

It’s the hardest thing: Flow on demand. It’s not like your favorite show, where you can punch the right code in and the familiar theme music or opening credits magically appear on your screen. Flow is about an internal experience. Flow is about what you feel. As such, what someone who is not you sees is barely relevant at all to your experience. But in a performance, in a video contest, it matters. Perhaps more than it should.

Well the hoopies are hear again. Wow. I am honored that Spiral and I were nominated for Hoop Instructor of the year.
Here’s why I think we deserve it…. there are two of us ;) If you vote for anyone else you’re only voting to give a Hoopie to one person. Don’t she and I deserve a half a Hoopie each? Just sayin…
Kidding aside, with the intensity of this year closing, it would be an amazing honor to receive that award. I’m not needing any accolade though since I have this project finished and that is amazing in and of itself.
On top of that, Spiral was nominated for female hooper of the year… again. She has been nominated every single year of the Hoopies and I’d love to see her receive it finally. That said, their are some brilliant talented women completely deserving of this award on the list. It’s a tough field.
